Racing driver Tyler Gonzalez joins BSI Racing for the Whelen Mazda MX-5 Cup, Presented by Michelin for the 2025 season.
A native of St. Cloud, Florida, Gonzalez comes with years of MX-5 Cup experience and has been one of the most sought-after drivers in the series. Gonzalez boasts seven series’ wins over the course of his career, including a flurry of success at Daytona International Speedway with two wins at the iconic racetrack and series opener.
Gonzalez bolsters a strong BSI lineup that already includes 2024 Rookie of the Year, Westin Workman, with more talent to be announced by the team soon. The Florida native will run the No. 57 red and white CLASSIC MAZDA of Orlando livery.
Classic Mazda of Orlando returns to BSI Racing as a featured sponsor for the team after a successful partnership in 2024 with the team and BSI alumnus, Connor Zilisch. Gonzalez and Classic Mazda of Orlando will host fan opportunities to interact with the team, driver and dealership at this year’s opening weekend in Daytona.
“After competing against BSI for so many years, I’m really excited to be joining forces with them,” said Tyler Gonzalez.
“I’ve been in the series for a few years, but I’m looking forward to my first full season in MX-5 Cup. Big thanks to Shea and Nick at BSI and the folks at Classic Mazda of Orlando for making this possible.”
BSI sets their sights on lofty goals for the 2025 season: winning races and championships.
“We’re pumped to have Tyler on board this season,” said team owner Holbrook.
“Tyler is a true series pro, and he brings so much experience to the rest of our team. I feel that the drivers we’re pairing him with will only help everyone on the team.
“Huge thanks to everyone at Classic Mazda of Orlando for helping us make this happen. We are so fortunate to have that relationship that allows for us to go out and compete like this. BSI. We want to be on the top step more this year. More podiums, more wins, and ultimately a team and driver championship, which is the goal.”
A goal that is firmly in reach.
Gonzalez makes his BSI Racing debut January 22-24, as a part of IMSA’s Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. All races will be streamed on IMSA.tv with on-track activities beginning on Wednesday, the 22nd.
